Fely J's Kitchen needs no introduction to fellow food enthusiasts as this is one of the many creative restaurants of the late Larry J. Cruz who pioneered one of Manila's landmark restaurants, Cafe Adriatico.

Fely J's Kitchen boasts of Filipino and Asian home-cooked dishes, something I am sure every Filipino will love. They pride of our local ingredients and I have savored their creations made from crabs to coconut.

One dessert that gives so much delight is a bowl of Macapuno Ice Cream (Macapuno is a variety of coconut said to be a product of a mutant coconut tree) topped with panocha (brown or cane sugar). To the unsuspecting diner, you will definitely be surprised to find suman (glutinous rice cooked in coconut cream) and slices of fresh mangoes at the core of this glorious white dessert. No wonder it is called Sikreto ni Maria Clara (Secret of Maria). It was a simple dessert but it was enough to forget the day's stressful moments.

Aside from celebrating Mother's Day this month of May, Fely J's Kitchen creation Sikreto ni Maria Clara lands in my Monday Madness section.
